Job Description: The HVAC Service Technician Type A-Heavy Commercial/Industrial will perform service, repair and maintenance of HVAC equipment. Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring. Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing on all types of HVAC equipment. Specific equipment responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Water-cooled single and dual centrifugal chillers, screw chillers, air-cooled chillers. Position Responsibilities: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned: Independently inspect and test systems to verify functionality for all types of commercial and industrial HVAC equipment including air and water-cooled liquid chillers, pumps, cooling towers, air handling units, packaged and split system D/X equipment. Perform new equipment start-ups, verify the functionality of equipment. Educate customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedule, and operating manual, etc. Leads the rebuild and retrofit of all types of commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. Directs and assists HVAC Field Service Technician B and HVAC Field Service Apprentices through a hands-on demonstration of the necessary steps and procedures. Promotes jobsite Safety by wearing personal protective equipment when completing service tasks and completing jobsite hazard assessments prior to starting work. Adheres to company and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines. Demonstrates professionalism in appearance, verbal, and written communication. Interacts with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call. Explains technical information to technical and non-technical clients. Communicates potential sales opportunities to the sales staff and identifies opportunities for minor repairs directly to the customer. Responsible for the mentorship of HVAC Field Service Technician B and HVAC Field Service Apprentices and hands-on training on all types of HVAC equipment. Record and report daily service reports, work orders, and weekly timecards. Basic data entry and ability to navigate the use of email, internet, word processing programs on lap-top and/or tablet. Analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performance. Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are upheld at all times. Keeps current on products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service and repair. Read and interpret product specifications and experience in working with building specifications, drawings, and designs. Regular travel requirements within the company’s service area, with some overnight travel. Position Requirements: • Associate's Degree or equivalent from a Technical / Trade School with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning and five (5) years related experience with increasing responsibility; or ten (10) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Valid driver's license. • EPA approved Universal Technician Refrigerant Certification, other state licenses as required. Compensation Range: $28.00 - $38.00 Hourly.
